RABBIT HOLE

Copyright 2018 – Robert E. Shandor

A sweetheart searchin’ for a softer ride

With a past she works hard to hide

Behind a mask of humbled pride

She pretends to be something she’s never tried

A free-wheelin’ spirit whose spirit near-died

Somewhere along her way

A free-wheelin’ spirit whose spirit near-died

Somewhere along her way

Somewhere along her way

A world too tough for her tender soul

Has broken her down, taken its toll

Knocked off-course from her harbored goal

She never planned to let herself go

So damn far down the rabbit hole

She found along her way

So damn far down the rabbit hole

She found along her way

She found along her way

She could use a helping of happy

Probably a cup of kindness or two

A jar of joy might feed the revolution

That builds a world for the many, not just the few –

And that would help her, too

So she lives one day at a time

Without reason and without rhyme

Still she clings to a thought in mind

She could leave the worst of her past behind

And try to toe to a better line

She might find along her way

And try to toe to a better line

She might find along her way

She might find along her way

She could use a helping of happy

Probably a cup of kindness or two

A jar of joy might feed the revolution

That builds a world for the many, not just the few

She could use a helping of happy

Probably a cup of kindness or two

A jar of joy might feed the revolution

That builds a world for the many, not just the few –

And that would help her, too
